The Cheyenne Depot Museum is housed in the newly renovated Union Pacific Depot in downtown Cheyenne.  The museum tells the story about the establishment of Cheyenne during the construction of the Transcontinental Railroad, the operation of the Union Pacific Railroad and the history of the construction of the Union Pacific Depot.   You can view the Union Pacific Main Yard from the new building on the west end of the Depot, and experience the second floor of the Cheyenne Depot Museum which is a “touchable museum experience” that has received rave reviews from children of all ages.

The Cheyenne Depot Museum is offering a variety of Holiday events this November and December.   Most of these events are free to the public.   We hope you put these events on your holiday calendars!   Don’t miss the Lighting of Cheyenne’s Christmas Tree on November 22nd!

Children and adults are encouraged to enter the Cheyenne Depot Museum’s Gingerbread House Contest by 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 22^nd.  Prizes will be awarded in five categories at 5:30pm.   Contest rules are available at 307-632-3905 or on our website at www.cheyennedepotmuseum.org.   

The Lighting of the Christmas Tree and the Depot Plaza Decorations is also scheduled for Saturday, November 22nd at 6 p.m.  You will enjoy singing Christmas carols on the Depot Plaza and will see Cheyenne’s Christmas Tree and Depot Plaza Decorations come to life with lights.   Hot chocolate and cookies will compliment this event.     

Don’t miss the chance to shop at the Cheyenne Depot Gift Shop!   They have a wonderful selection of unusual gifts, nature items and railroad memorabilia.   The Cheyenne Depot Gift Shop’s Open House will be held on Saturday, November 22^nd from 9am to 6pm, with a special Christmas Sale in the lobby of the Cheyenne Depot from 10am to 5:30pm.

Santa Claus will be coming to visit the Cheyenne Depot lobby on Saturday, November 22^nd from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.  Santa Claus will also be visiting the Cheyenne Depot lobby from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on November 29^th, December 6^th and December 13^th.   We encourage parents and grand parents to bring their cameras!

Sunshine Generation will be offering a free-to-the-public performance in the lobby at 1:00pm on Saturday, December 6^th. 

The Cheyenne Depot Museum’s Christkindlmarkt will be held in the lobby from 8am to 5pm on Friday, November 28^th, 9am to 5pm on Saturday, November 29^th and 11am to 5pm on Sunday, November 30^th.  Craft vendors with Christmas ornaments, decorations and specialty gifts will be available.   

The Cheyenne Depot Museum’s Children’s Tea will be held in the Depot lobby on Saturday, November 29^th at 1:30pm.   This will be a delightful event for children of all ages.  Tickets for this event are $10 for adults and $5 for children.  Reservations are required.  Call 307-632-3905 for tickets.

On Sunday, November 30^th, Tea Among The Trees will be held at 1 p.m. in the Depot lobby.   Tickets for this event are $12 for adults.   Reservations are required for the teas.  Call 307-632-3905 for tickets.

Story Time at the Depot will be held on Saturday, December 13th at 1:00 p.m. in the Cheyenne Depot lobby.  Christmas stories will be read to children under 10, and each of the children will receive an educational packet and a free book.   Story Time at the Depot is sponsored by Cheyenne Eye Clinic.  

Don’t miss the Tuba Christmas performance on Saturday, December 13^th that will follow Story Time at 1:30pm.
